Drywall, wall putty, screed, masonry
Straightening uneven and sloping walls can be done with drywall or using putty and screed.
Drywall
Drywall (plasterboard) is a building panel with a three-layer structure: two sheets of cardboard and a middle layer of gypsum. It is used for walls, suspended ceilings, partition walls, and decorative elements. Drywall provides ideal walls without the need for plastering.
Ordinary plasterboard, which is white, is used for building wall cladding, suspended ceilings, and partition walls.
Waterproof drywall also contains an inner layer of silicone, which makes it resistant to moisture. It is green and suitable for wet rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.
Fire-resistant drywall, which is pink in color, contains fibers that limit the spread of fire. It is used in kitchens, next to stoves, fireplaces, etc.
ЦThe cost of installing drywall depends on the area of the room, the installation method - by gluing or screw profiles, and the type of drywall.
Gluing drywall
Drywall gluing is applicable in rooms with straight walls but is not recommended for ceilings and wet rooms. Special adhesives (for smooth surfaces, porous surfaces, and reinforced) are used to glue drywall, which is applied to previously primed surfaces.
Drywall installation with metal profiles
Drywall installation with metal profiles is used to level uneven walls and to make suspended ceilings, partitions, columns, etc. The metal profiles are fixed to the wall, and the drywall is mounted on the metal structure with screws. The drywall mounted on metal profiles can carry additional weight.
Drywall insulation
The drywall with metal profiles stands at a certain distance from the wall, and this space can be used for glass wool insulation.
Drywall for straightening walls
Drywall panels are flat and come in large sizes. Their most common use is straightening crooked and uneven walls. Installing drywall is an alternative to plastering for straightening walls.
Suspended ceilings with drywall
Suspended ceilings are made of drywall using metal profiles. They can be in various shapes and equipped with lighting fixtures.
Drywall partition walls
The construction of partition walls is done with drywall and metal profiles (dry construction).
Wall putty
Wall putty is a basic method for leveling walls but requires professionalism and experience. It creates a stable and even surface on which paints, tiles, wallpaper, etc. can be applied. Before applying the putty mixture, the wall is treated with a deep-penetrating primer. After the first leveling layer has dried, all irregularities on the wall are sanded with sandpaper. The wall is dusted, and a finishing putty is applied.
Screed
A floor screed is used to level or raise the floor. It uses special cement-based materials. Before applying the screed, a suitable primer is used on the cleaned and dust-free floor. If a higher floor level is required, the screed can be applied in separate layers to prevent cracking.
Floor screed can be used to raise the floor level, level the floor in different rooms, and level or set a floor slope.
Self-leveling screed provides a flat and smooth base for laying parquet, carpet, or PVC flooring. It is mixed with water with an electric motor and poured into the entire room at once. The mixture is spread evenly throughout the room. After spreading, the mixture self-levels, and its surface becomes horizontal, flat, and smooth. It requires speed and precision. It is applied to a primed surface.
Partition walls construction
Partition walls can be constructed with drywall or bricks. They can be load-bearing or decorative and separate spaces within a common room. Waterproofing of partition walls is necessary in wet rooms.
Walls construction with Ytong blocks
Ytong blocks are voluminous, light, and porous. They are easily molded into the desired dimensions and can be used to build non-load-bearing walls. Blocks are available in different thicknesses, which also determines the price of the structure.
