Parquet flooring installation
A parquet is a floor covering made of solid wood. It is laid on a flat subfloor and must remain in the room where it will be laid for several days to acclimate to the humidity. Parquet can be laid in a mosaic or herringbone pattern.
Solid parquet installation
Solid parquet is made from a monolithic piece of wood modeled to the desired shape and size. It is very durable and, if properly processed, will last many years. Over time, its surface wears out, but it can be renovated repeatedly by sanding, polishing, and varnishing. Solid parquet needs maintenance—periodic coating with protective oils.
Solid parquet is characterized by the natural shapes of the wood from which it is made—most often oak, beech, walnut, or cherry. It has good insulating properties but is sensitive to water and can crack when dried.
The price of the solid parquet is high. It is recommended that it be used in rooms that are not exposed to moisture.
Three-layer parquet installation
Three-layer parquet is a natural parquet consisting of three wood layers. The surface layer is made of natural wood - beech, oak, etc. The middle layer is made of cheaper wood and has a stabilizing effect against deformation. The bottom layer is made of coniferous wood and is resistant to wear.
The three-layer parquet resembles a solid parquet in its characteristics, but it is more moisture-resistant and lower priced. This type of parquet is available in ready-to-install pieces, varnished and colored. It can be installed floating or glued.
Laminate parquet installation
Laminate parquet flooring consists of a synthetic surface layer that provides protection against wear, stains, and fading. Underneath it is a layer of wood (oak, beech, cherry, walnut, etc.) and a bottom stabilizing layer of chipboard or plywood. It is less durable and cheaper.
Laminate flooring does not require adhesive and can be installed over other flooring. Its surface is easy to clean and resistant to impacts and scratches. It is widely used.
