Painting
Painting is done with latex-based paints, oilbased-paints, alkyd paints, or other paints on stable, smooth, and clean surfaces. The choice of paint depends on several qualities, including covering power, resistance to abrasion, washability, type of coating — matte or glossy, and color range.
Latex-based paints
Latex is a water-based paint with many advantages—it is easy to apply, has high coverage and low price, dries quickly, has no unpleasant odor, and is available in any desired color.
Ordinary latex (low grade) has a coarser structure, low coverage (1 liter of latex can cover about 5 sq m with two coats of paint), cannot be washed, and " breathes." It is suitable for rooms with rougher walls.
Mid-range latex has higher coverage (about 6 sq m with two coats of paint), can be dry cleaned, and "breathes."
High-class latex has a high-quality structure, high strength and high coverage (about 9 sq m with two-layer painting). It is suitable for use on walls with ideal putty. These latex paints can be matte or glossy, with the highest gloss latex having the best washability and the best sealing of the wall. They also have a quick drying time, typically within 2-4 hours. There are also latex paints with antibacterial properties suitable for wet rooms.
Eco latex meets the highest EU requirements for the content of harmful organic compounds. It can be washed and is suitable for wet rooms.
Latex painting
Latex painting is done after fine gypsum puttying on the walls. The latex paint is applied in two layers (2 coats) for a dense and even coating.
The price for painting the walls and ceiling in one room with a single latex color starts from 6 euro/sq m
Latex painting with two or more colors in one room requires cutting off between the colors using paper tape. The price for latex paint in two colors and cutting starts from 8 euro/sq m
Oil-based painting
Oil-based painting is more labor-intensive than painting with latex. However, it is recommended in rooms with a high risk of contamination, as the primer allows for easy cleaning and protects metal elements from corrosion.
Alkyd painting
Alkyd paint is based on turpentine and can be thinned with turpentine. It offers a satin or glossy finish and is suitable for painting metal and wooden surfaces. However, to achieve the best results, it's essential to prime clean and dry surfaces with an appropriate primer. Over time, alkyd paints may fade over time, but they are suitable for interior and exterior use.
Priming
Primer for gypsum, drywall and masonry ensures better adhesion of the paint to the wall, better paint coverage, and reduced paint consumption. The primer reduces the penetration of the paint into the wall and the contamination of the first layer of paint. It also prevents the penetration of odors, grease, nicotine, and surface dirt into the wall, making it suitable for a variety of surfaces.
Priming before latex painting is mandatory for a good result. The price is 1.75 lev/sq m
Plastic wrap protection
Covering flooring, skirting boards, and furniture with plastic wrap before painting protects them from paint contamination.
